What we track, what we don't, and our current (unpaid) approach to monetisation.
The short version
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use this site, and we don't sell or share personal data. Awesome Lisbon does not currently carry sponsored placements, advertising or commercial booking links — every recommendation on this site is unpaid editorial content. If that ever changes, this page will say so clearly and any paid or affiliate link will be disclosed at the point it appears, not just here. The rest of this page covers the detail.
Analytics & cookies
This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to see which pages get read, roughly where visitors are browsing from, and which devices and browsers are common — aggregate, anonymised-as-possible usage patterns, not individual profiles. Google Analytics sets cookies to do this.
For visitors browsing from the EU, we ask first: a small banner appears offering to accept or decline analytics cookies, and Google Analytics doesn't load until you choose. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. This detection happens automatically in your browser and isn't perfect — if you'd rather not be tracked regardless of where you're browsing from, most browsers let you block Google Analytics directly (ad blockers and tracking-protection extensions both work), and we respect that choice either way.
We don't use Google Analytics data to build advertising profiles, and we don't sell it to anyone.
Monetisation & disclosures
Awesome Lisbon does not run display ads, sponsored search widgets, commercial booking links or any other paid placement. Every neighbourhood, attraction, restaurant and hotel-area recommendation on this site reflects our own editorial judgement, with no commercial relationship attached.
If monetisation is introduced in future, this page and any affected content will be updated before it goes live, with clear disclosures and no paid influence over editorial rankings.
What we don't do
- We don't require an account or login, so we don't hold personal profiles.
- We don't sell personal data to third parties.
- We don't run retargeting or ad-network tracking pixels.
- If you email us via the contact page, we use your email address only to reply to you.
Your rights
If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, you have rights under GDPR to know what data is held about you and to request its deletion. Since we don't maintain user accounts or personal profiles beyond aggregate analytics, there's generally very little to request — but if you have a question about data specific to your visit, use the contact page and we'll do our best to help.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if what we collect or how we monetise the site changes materially. The "updated" date at the top of this page reflects the last real change.

- No. We use Google Analytics for aggregate usage statistics and don't sell personal data to anyone.
