What changes after 21:00

From 22 through 29 September, CARRIS says route 15E is temporarily shortened to the Belém turning loop after 21:00. The reason is a road closure next to the Algés turning loop. In practical terms, the tram still serves the central Lisbon–Belém section, but it does not continue through the stops west of Belém to Algés during the affected late-evening period.

Which part of the route is affected

CARRIS lists the regular 15E as Praça da Figueira–Algés, via Praça do Comércio, Cais do Sodré, Santos, Alcântara, MAAT, Belém, Jerónimos and Centro Cultural de Belém before continuing through Pedrouços to Algés. Because the temporary terminus is Belém after 21:00, travellers whose journey depends on Pedrouços or Algés need to plan another connection for that part of the trip. The notice does not announce a special replacement shuttle for this evening shortening.

There is another change on some early mornings

A separate current CARRIS notice adds a second wrinkle from 28–30 September and again 3–7 October, between 05:20 and 08:00. During those windows, 15E is split: trams operate between Algés and Praça das Indústrias, while buses operate between Praça das Indústrias and Praça da Figueira. CARRIS says the change is for track works. That early-morning arrangement overlaps with the 22–29 September evening shortening on 28 and 29 September, so people travelling very early or late on those dates should check the live service notice before setting out.

What this means for Belém visitors

For most daytime sightseeing in Belém, this particular evening notice is not the main issue: the shortening begins after 21:00. It matters most if you are staying around Algés, returning west after dinner, travelling to or from an event near the river, or using 15E for a late connection beyond Belém. If your destination is Belém itself, the tram still reaches the temporary Belém terminus during the announced evening restriction.

How to plan around it

Check the 15E route page or CARRIS service-changes page shortly before travel, especially because works can change operational details. Allow extra time if you need the Belém–Algés section after 21:00. For journeys during the 05:20–08:00 works on 28–30 September or 3–7 October, expect a tram-to-bus split at Praça das Indústrias rather than a single through tram. Do not rely on an old timetable screenshot: CARRIS marks the 15E route itself as having active service alterations.
